Chocolatey Clare: Dublin vegan success!

Chocolatey Clare: Dublin vegan success!

Chocolatey Clare founder Clare Tait is showcasing Irish high-end artisan vegan chocolate on the world stage.

Clare went vegan in 2015, along with the rest of her family. Wanting a sweet milk chocolate taste with vegan ingredients, she started experimenting. She found one that she and her family liked then rented a space in a commercial kitchen to try it out at the farmers’ market in Bray in 2016.

Her chocolate bars were a hit, appealing to those who are lactose intolerant, vegan and also people who just appreciate artisan chocolate.

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing.

“Two years ago, when I applied for support, I was told that the vegan chocolate market was too small, but I think this has changed now”, Clare told the Irish Examiner in February.

She persisted.

Since then, the rise in consumer demand for environmentally friendly food has widened to include chocolate. Issues such as climate change have helped encourage shops to be more willing to stock vegan chocolate.

And Chocolatey Clare’s eco-credentials are impressive. The vegan chocolate is produced using ethically sourced, organic Peruvian Criollo beans. It’s also a zero-waste product, with an inner wrapper made from a plant-based, compostable film inside a FSC certified cardboard packet that is printed with vegetable-based ink.

Now, you’ll find this artisan vegan chocolate in an extensive network of stockists throughout Ireland. The range of flavours is enticing.

Clare’s social media profile of thousands of followers has also helped raise awareness that Ireland is a great place to make and sell high-end vegan chocolate… adding further to Ireland’s international reputation as vegan food influencers and innovators.

Best of all, thanks to Clare we now have a truly local compassionate and cruelty free option for Easter, Mother’s Day and other times when we want that special chocolate gift. Or even if it’s a treat for ourselves!

This is a great example that it really pays to be vegan, and that supporting local vegan business can make a real difference. Kindness, compassion, environmental benefits and helping dreams come true… it all starts when you go vegan.
